FWIW: Another paid sub from the start here! Haley’s writing has truly changed my life. So much of her insight bounces around in my head each and every day. Her work has pushed my thinking in transformative, wonderful ways. She’s a thought-provoking, wise, and charming writer and I can’t recommend a paid subscription enough. ❤️
I look forward to a Sunday morning Maybe Baby read in bed every single week. The amount of times someone has asked “who are you texting??” But it’s just me leaving a long ass comment because I’ve just read something that Really Makes You Think - definitely more than a few times. One of my favorite slices of the internet since March 2020 for so many reasons but especially because it has remained immune to so much of the bad influencer marketing tone that has infiltrated literally everything. $6 a month is nothing to lose and everything to gain! Happy Birthday Maybe Baby! ❣️
I think there’s probably a portion of your existing paid subscriber population that would happily pay more (evidence of 1 person here, others feel free to chime in…). Netflix charges me $19 a month for content that I access way less (and value way less!!) than yours. Not sure if there’s a way around the paid/unpaid duality—like a tip jar of sorts. Ex. if there was an option for (1) subscription, plus (2) optional monthly contribution to Sunny college fund, I’d click that button in a heartbeat.
HAPPY FIVE YEARS I still remember when you texted me the newsletter name idea Gut Flora to which I think I replied something along the lines of "let's try and think of something less intestinal"
I was just so scared that this was an announcement that Maybe Baby was ending! Paid reader since day 1 and can’t tell you how much joy and fodder your writing has brought me. And how many great conversations I’ve had with friends, my mom, my partner after reading your essays. Also can you please tell us where exactly to go dancing in New York? ❤️
Happy five years Haley!! not to be dramatic, but your writing has changed my life- your essay on mediocrity (#161 unhappy medium) helped me get the courage to end my six-year relationship.
Almost two years later, I've never been happier (even whilst dealing w/ the unhinged deli guy situation of course). Yay
This little nudge was all I needed to re-subscribe as paid. I am constantly trying to trim down what I pay for as a subscription service because there are just SO MANY things that pile up, but I must have been on a manic (delusional!) purge when I let this one go. Thanks Haley, can't wait to keep following along. Also, pls truly feel free to hunt me down if I once again try to make Maybe Baby shoulder the blame for my excessive subscriptions and retail therapy habits. 🫶🏼
Chiming in with more encouragement to upgrade to paid! This is the only newsletter I always open. The recs are so thoughtful. I’m always introduced to new ideas, new sources, and sweet glimpses of Haley’s week — the list is perfectly curated, and I especially appreciate it’s focused on genuine personal recommendations, not consumerism for its own sake. Dear Danny alone is worth the price of admission and I’d devour it if it were three times as long. I adore the banter and the advice is wise, thoughtful, and unexpected. Keep being the best, Haley! Thanks for all you give in your work.
I look forward to every single newsletter that hits my inbox. Love your writing soooo much and while I cycle in paid subs for other newsletters, yours has always been a constant. Thanks for all you do!!! Cheers to expansion!!
My partner and I look forward to Maybe Baby every week and 35% of the time one of us reads it to the other. Haley has such a unique voice and each of her three weekly publications are either thought provoking, informative or fun - most often all 3. This is the only Substack I pay for and the only one I really care to :)
so many aspects of Maybe Baby paid sub are top-notch quality and I genuinely anticipate and seek out Maybe Baby editions in my inbox / eps in my podcast feed on specific days of the week or times of the month. (like I’ll think to myself oooh, it’s Mar 15, Dear Danny will be out any day now 👁️👄👁️)
also YES to the marvelous comments section. if the business people at Substack had a way to analyze Maybe Baby scroll-through-comments rates they’d surely try to make a webinar out of the phenomenon
A couple of people have said to me recently “you always read such interesting articles” and both times it’s been because I’ve been talking about links that I have found in your newsletter. Congratulations on five years, and thank you for your work!

Same. Her writing has changed the way I think about my own life. Huge.
Completely agree! What a gift

This is so sweet. You already do enough!!
I agree! I was recently thinking of writing to you and suggesting this Haley.
Ooh just learned this is actually an option thanks to another commenter. Upgraded! ✌🏼✔️

Me, a paid subscriber for years, locked in reading this pitch and agreeing wholeheartedly. Soooo worth the $5/month

a weekly invitation to think critically and generously about my own life since day one —
highlights:
• the decoding the love bomber dear danny ep
• ‘my gods’ essay
• whichever essay was published on 3/4/2024 (per my screenshots folder) on gut feelings, etc.
Paid subscriber since the beginning. :) I look forward to reading it every week!
Happy five years, Haley! Very very grateful for this slice of the internet that you’ve carved out 💛
